  • Well, I don't live in the middle east and have never been there. No doubt there are some modern muslims, more so in "advanced" countries like kuwait or uae. Even in countries like iran or saudi arabia, which have strict theocratic governments, there are modernists.

  • No, I don't think obama is a muslim now. But he was raised as a muslim until his teens. I was raised as a christian, and despite the rabid athiest crowd I still respect the "judeo-christian" tradition and share its values. I think obama has the same relationship toward islam.
